How Much to Charge for Custom Print Shirts
Combine garment cost, decoration cost, setup, and markup into a quote customers accept — without undercharging.
Custom shirt pricing is three numbers: blank garment, decoration (DTF/screen/DTG), and your margin + setup. Skipping any one trains customers to compare you only on the lowest transfer price on Facebook.
Build unit production cost
- Garment wholesale + inbound shipping per piece.
- Decoration cost from your DTF or contract printer (use the DTF Cost Calculator if you print in-house).
- Packaging, label, and a few cents for consumables.
Add margin with intent
Multiply unit cost by your target markup (often 2×–2.8× for retail single orders, lower for 48+ pieces). Use the Print Pricing Calculator to see quote totals with setup fees.
Quantity breaks (example structure)
- 1–11 pcs: full markup + setup
- 12–47 pcs: moderate markup, reduced setup
- 48+ pcs: wholesale-style markup, pre-approved art only
What customers compare
They compare final per-shirt price with turnaround and proof quality — not your internal film cost. Show professionalism with clear size charts, DPI requirements, and reprint policy instead of racing to the bottom.
